The latest version (11-19-02) of the GPL-drivers provided on
sourceforge speedtouch usb driver page
does not yet work for the Alcatel/Thomson
modem st330.
You need to patch the driver in order to let the
modem work, with T. Woodall's patch and
to follow the installation method
described here
B.
Papillaut's speedtouch driver page, using:
- modem_run -e 1 ... instead of modem_run
- pppoa3 -e 1 instead of pppoa2 in the file
/etc/ppp/peers/adsl
You will find here:
To patch the sources, do the following:
- First untar the archive of the sources
tar zxvf speedtouch-CVS_19_11_2002.tar.gz
- Go in the directory of the sources (speedtouch-CVS_19_11_2002). Type the
following to patch the sources
patch -p1 < the_patch_file
- Follow the usual procedure to compile the sources (explained in the
INSTALL file).
Remarks
- At the time you look at this page, latest version from sourceforge drivers may
work out of the box. Try this first. T. woodall's patch may be officially on
this page on sourceforge. You may check all of this before trying what is
here.
- I tested this with Linux Mandrake 8.2 and it works fine. It was also tested with Linux
Mandrake 9.0 and Suse and it worked in theses cases too.
